Equipment: Nozzles

MicroCool offer three different types of mounting line and a comprehensive range of nozzles to suit the many applications of MicroCool customers. Flexible nozzle line, stainless steel line and the new ROC system can either be used individually or in combination to give the user the best combination or distribution.

The standard MicroCool nozzle features a 0.2mm orifice with a raised 316 stainless steel insert. The brass body features a sprung anti-drip and a 20 mµ filter for extra protection. The MicroCool nozzle is made in the USA to the highest specifications and continuously evolves over the past 30 years to produce one of the best performing nozzles in the market today.

Nozzle Lines
The flexible nozzle lines features a nylon core tube with fiber reinforcement and UV resistant black polyurethane cover rated up to 6,000 psi (414 bar) burst pressure. The nozzles are mounted in crimped barbs that can be inserted at any spacing the client desires and come in reels of up to 330ft / 100mt long. Nozzles can be turned through a full 360° of orientation to direct the fog in the most suitable direction.

Flexible lines have an advantage in that they can be easily shipped in boxes and are installed quickly at the applications. The nozzle line must be supported by a strong cable to avoid any twist and turns in the line, all are included in the installation package.

Stainless steel nozzle lines (3/8” – 9mm outside diameter) are the more common method for mounting the nozzles. 316 grade stainless steel tubing has the risers welded in position as dictated by the design and distribution. Lines are pressure tested to 3,000 psi / 210 bar to ensure integrity. Stainless steel 316 grade compression fittings are supplied to join the tubing together. The nozzle lines come in 20’0” – 6.10mt lengths and are easy and simple to mount on the face of the structure.
The NEW MicroCool ROC (patented) system is the best of both flexible nozzle line and the rigidity of stainless steel. A machined collar with two special sealing rings slips firmly over the stainless steel tube. The tube is drilled at specific intervals as dictated by the design and application; the collar slides smoothly over the hole. With the nozzle mounted on the ROC collar, the nozzle can be directed through 360° to place the fog wherever it is needed.

MicroCool Nozzles
MicroCool nozzles come with three different orifices the standard nozzle (0.008” / 0.20mm) the dust suppression nozzle (0.020” / 0.50mm) and the special purpose nozzle (0.006” / 0.12mm). The operating pressure of the nozzles is between 800 – 1,100 psi or 55 – 76 Bars.

Each nozzle contains a special stainless steel insert with engineered contours that rotates to make the fog “spin” as it exits the nozzle. The unique feature of the MicroCool nozzle is the raised insert that sheds water when closed to avoid salt build up over the orifice.

Each nozzle uses a spring loaded anti-drip spring and ball that closes the nozzle after operation to eliminate any dripping. New for 2010 the nozzle body includes a 20 mµ changeable filter to further protect the nozzle orifice.

Made to extreme tolerance in the USA the MicroCool nozzle outperforms many similar nozzles and performs for many years without exchange or cleaning (depending on water quality). Many have tried to copy and imitate the characteristics of the MicroCool nozzle, but none can match the performance and consistency. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
