Outdoor Cooling: Residential Cooling Applications

People who live in the arid climates of the world are no longer trapped inside by the heat and sun. Using MicroCool’s residential fog system, outdoor spaces can be converted into relaxing living areas to be enjoyed throughout the summer and hot months.

MicroCool uses stainless steel tube and USA made nozzles spaced evenly through the outdoors to cool selected areas and poolside access as needed. The flash evaporation of the fog into the air can lower temperatures to a more tolerable level allowing a relaxing day or evening to be spent enjoying the outdoors.

Generally the fog lines are mounted along the front or top of the patio so that the cold air falls down to a lower level to be drafted under the covered patio and seating area. Some benefit will be felt in the full sun areas, but the most cooling will be appreciated under the covered areas. Ceiling fans turned in reverse help to “draw” the cold air under the cover into the seating area.

MicroCool BIGHORN pumps are especially designed for the home owner with two models to fit most needs. The larger model can handle up to 80 nozzles or 120ft / 30 mt of continuous fog line. The new BIGHORN pump is extremely quiet and can be positioned much closer to the seating area than traditional pump units (saving expensive high-pressure hose).

The pump speed can be controlled manually, so that the speed is just sufficient to provide the correct pressure to the nozzles reducing noise and vibration. Additionally, the slower speed motor uses up to 50% less electricity than normal pump units reducing the monthly utility bill (and in some cases qualifying for a rebate).

MicroCool residential Outdoor Cooling systems can also take advantage of the Reverse Osmosis and UV lights offered to commercial clientele, as units are made especially for the home owner. Temperature and humidity sensors can also be added to the system for greater control along with hand held starters and remote surface mounted switches.

The MicroCool design engineers work with the homeowners to make sure that they understand the principles of fog and how to use the system to it’s best advantage. Working in conjunction with local weather stations (www.desertweather.com) a helpful chart can be found to show when MicroCool fog systems can be used and when conditions will cause wetting and not give the cooling desired.

All MicroCool residential systems can be installed by our team of professional “in-house” installers and technicians. They will make sure that the system is installed as aesthetically pleasing as possible, but preserve all of the technical design. Homeowners can then take advantage of the MicroCool service contract where preferential rates on labor and parts are offered along with a 24 hr callout service.
